Ford and Holden Set to Battle it out in Tense V8 Supercar Race
Tony Cochrane, V8 Supercars Chairman, touts the sporting event and the V8’s as a definite must-see in 2009. The new race format features a 200km race through the streets of Surfers Paradise on the Saturday and Sunday.
Tyre and fuel pit stops will add to spectator interest and the excitement of the event. The V8 Supercars will clock speeds of more than 260km/hr which augers well for a tense battle between Ford and Holden.
The Streets of Surfers Paradise Provide a Unique Race Track
The unique 4.2km track winds through the streets of the ever-popular tourist destination, Surfers Paradise. Included in the scenic backdrop, is the beach stretching for kilometres up and down the coast, with golden sands and surf to attract swimmers and surfers alike. To the west lies verdant mountain ranges and Gold Coast Hinterland.
Best Trackside Accommodation is in Surfers Paradise
The city’s party scene by day carries well on into the night and early hours of the morning. Nightclubs and restaurants near burst at the seams. Accommodation, especially in high-rise apartments which overlook the track, is something best booked well in advance of the SuperGP spectacular.
Neighbouring suburbs like Main Beach and Broadbeach offer accommodation in close proximity to the central hub of the motoring event.
Ear Protection for Trackside Spectators
Adults, and especially children who are close to the race track, should seriously consider the use of ear plugs or noise cancelling head sets. The noise is, literally, deafening and can easily frighten young children.
